Having been off WWE TV since his rivalry with Kevin Owens came to an end last October, Shane McMahon’s recent involvement behind the scenes in helping to put together the men’s Royal Rumble match came a little out of left-field.

As previously reported over the years, Shane’s only presence in WWE is as an on-screen talent – with him not being involved in running the company or having any creative input. This recent work at last month’s Royal Rumble PPV has seen speculation running wild (brother!) that the former European Champion could now be working in a backstage capacity as an agent or producer.

Courtesy of Dave Meltzer, that is not the case.

According to Uncle Dave, McMahon helping out at the Rumble is viewed as a one-off thing where he was just lending a hand.

Shane worked alongside Lance Storm, Jamie Noble, and Chris Park (Abyss) in producing the men’s Royal Rumble contest. There was also select input from Paul Heyman and WWE Champion Brock Lesnar on how the match should play out.

For now, this is very much seen as a one-off occurrence, with there currently no plans to have Shane McMahon involved in the behind the scenes happenings of WWE.
