Will Ospreay returning to New Japan Pro Wrestling for the first time since being stripped of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in May this past weekend, showing up unannounced at Resurgence in Los Angeles, California.

A pointed promo saw the Englishman claim, amongst other things, that he wouldn't be in this year's G1 Climax tournament and wasn't going back to Japan until Shingo Takagi was declared an "interim" IWGP Champion. This comes following Takagi winning the vacant title in Will's absence at Dominion 6.7 in June.

Ospreay's first post-return match announcement followed. Now, Dave Meltzer has reported that with no Japanese dates on the horizon, Will shall also wrestle Karl Fredericks on an upcoming NJPW show in Garland, Texas (25 or 26 September). This report came on today's episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer also pointed out that Ospreay isn't currently being advertised for NJPW's Californian shows in November. At this time, there is no word on where he'll be based at that point.

Forced out of action after suffering a neck injury in May, Ospreay returned to his native United Kingdom afterwards, with the injury cited as one of his reasons amidst reports of unrest amongst NJPW's foreign wrestlers.
