WWE has updated fans on both Austin Theory and Carmelo Hayes following a terrifying fall on this week's episode of SmackDown, and people will be glad to know that the pair are on the mend.

The company's official Twitter/X page posted a quick message announcing that Theory and Hayes suffered "face contusions" upon landing; Theory was going for a Spanish Fly out of the corner on Carmelo, but appeared to come down hard on his head.

To his credit, the referee assigned to the match stopped the bout quickly. He didn't waste any time, and wanted Austin (in particular) checked over as soon as possible. A WWE medic was on hand to take a look at Theory and Hayes before the show moved on.

Fans in attendance fell silent once the official called for the bell. It was clear some around ringside feared the worst, not least when replays of the spot showed Theory's head mashing into the canvas.

Thankfully, he escaped relatively unscathed and didn't suffer any serious neck trauma. It's great to know that Hayes, who has been flirting with a main roster call up recently, is also OK.
