Vince McMahon Reportedly Made HUGE Last-Minute WWE Extreme Rules Change

One of the Horror Show's biggest matches almost played out very differently.

Asuka came within a hair of scoring a clean victory over Sasha Banks and retaining her RAW Women's Championship at WWE's The Horror Show at Extreme Rules last night - until Vince McMahon changed his mind.

This is according to Dave Meltzer, who spoke about the matter on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, stating that the WWE Chairman and CEO decided to go down a different route on the day of the show.

Asuka ended up "losing" the match instead. A screwy finish saw 'The Empress of Tomorrow' accidentally spit mist in the referee's face, allowing Bayley to clock her with the belt. The SmackDown Women's Champion then tore off the referee's shirt, put it on, and counted the three, ordering the timekeeper to declare the match over and Banks the champ.

It should be noted that the title change hasn't yet been listed on WWE.com, with Asuka still down as the RAW Women's Champion. Whether or not the result will stand is therefore up in the air until further clarification arrives. Expect some kind of follow up on tonight's episode of RAW, though WWE is yet to upload a preview.
