Vince McMahon Responds To Rumours He's 'Buying Back' The XFL

The WWE boss speaks on recent reports...

XFL Vince McMahon

Recents reports online, stemming from an article published by The Athletic, suggested that Vince McMahon was secretly trying to orchestrate a 'buy back' scheme for the XFL.

If successful, the report alleged, McMahon would be able to escape any of the football league's debt and salvage plans to run the XFL again without taking too much of a financial hit.

Now, Daniel Kaplan of The Athletic (who wrote the original article), has revealed Vince's full statement from a recent deposition testimony. It rather definitively claims that McMahon isn't in the running to buy back the XFL or own it again.

“I don’t know why that’s out there - making me out to be the bad guy, (that) I’m going to buy the XFL back for pennies on the dollar, basically. That helped me move into the direction of, 'I’m not going to be a bidder', not going to have anything to do with it. I do hope that someone will pay a lot of money for it, and I do hope that it will survive.”

Above is McMahon's full statement. It doesn't look like he will be a bidder for any revived XFL after all.
