Vince McMahon & Triple H Disagree Over Major WWE Creative Issues

There have been reports in recent weeks that Vince McMahon and Triple H have had disagreements regarding creative issues. It's been noted by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and on his radio show that those two butting heads has led to disagreements on who they want to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31. Since Lesnar just won the WWE Title at SummerSlam, there are also rumors that he might hold it all the way until WrestleMania 31. How WWE goes about having shows without the WWE Title around is something that we'll see later this year, but the issue seems to be about his WrestleMania opponent. According to the reports, Vince wants Lesnar to face The Rock while Hunter wants Lesnar to face Reigns to put over the young guy. In Vince's case, he's looking at Rock vs. Lesnar as the match that can probably make WWE more money than anything else. Rock is a legitimate top movie star that is the biggest draw that WWE can possibly have unless they could convince Steve Austin to wrestle, which seems unlikely after 11 years of no matches. He's thinking about the box office. It's a huge match, no doubt about it. Hunter's push for Reigns against Lesnar is a sign that Hunter is focused on the future. That's no surprise since Hunter is over 20 years younger than Vince and as the head of talent relations it's his job to build the roster for the future. Having Reigns face Lesnar (and beat him) would be a huge boost for Reigns as well as something that could lead to Reigns becoming the next top babyface in the company. There are definitely pros and cons to both directions. It's only August, so there's plenty of time to go before WrestleMania 31 in March. Most years we know the direction around Survivor Series in November, so we'll keep an eye on things closely at that point. We have noted in the past that they've also had difficulties with Hunter telling talents one thing, then Vince ends up changing it and Hunter has to go back to tell talents about the change, which has made things difficult for Hunter in his job. Even though they might disagree about issues like Lesnar's WrestleMania 31 opponent, it's said that Vince and Hunter are still very close. There are no worries about strong negative feelings between them.
