Vince McMahon Wrote Most Of This Week's WWE Raw

Though gone from WWE, Vince McMahon's creative hand still guided Raw.

If you were of the belief that this week's Raw didn't feel markedly different from WWE's usual output despite the promotion's recent creative shake-up, it's because it was largely written by Vince McMahon.

Dave Meltzer reported as much on Wrestling Observer Radio. Raw's 25 July episode was primarily penned by the 76-year-old prior to announcing his retirement as WWE Chairman and CEO on Friday, with much of the content put together on Thursday. Nothing was ripped up after this - the show that aired on Monday was the one approved last week.

While WWE's new creative unit has ideas in mind for SummerSlam (30 July), big changes reportedly aren't coming just yet.

Raw opening with The Miz and Logan Paul brawling was amongst the biggest breaks from the norm this week. Per Meltzer, this was done primarily to preserve Logan's crowd reaction, with WWE worrying that he wasn't going to be cheered during a televised entrance. Indeed, the supposed babyface was booed upon hitting the ring before the broadcast.

Paul 'Triple H' Levesque was formally announced as WWE's new head of creative on Monday, taking the wheel from McMahon.
