I had just NO DOUBT pushed the envelope as far as I could with the RAW Magazine. It was at the time when Bret was leaving for WCW because Vince told him that he no longer could afford his contract. Silly me---I wanted to interview Bret to find out firsthand what was going through his mind. Bret and I proceeded to have a lengthy conversation where he not only openly talked about WCW, but more specifically---Eric Bischoff. After the story was laid out, I sent it up to Vinces office for approval. I was shortly called into the principals office. Upon my entering I could tell by his beet-red face that Vince wasnt happy. With one fell swoop he cleared everything that was on his desk and screamed at me, What are you trying to do---put me out of business?! Now, here comes the weird part. I wasnt scared. As a matter of fact, I kind of thought it was funny. If Vince HIMSELF was reacting to the story that wayhow would the rest of the fan base react to it? Vinces response clearly told me that we were onto something much, much bigger. Why I wasnt fired on the spot, I have no idea, but it was only a few short months later, when in front of me, and all his minions, Vince slammed the RAW Magazine on the conference room table and said, This is what RAW (the TV show) needs to be!" Man, Im going to miss the WWE Magazine, truly, but the special memories I have will live on forever!
