Vince Russo's 10 Insider Stories From Running WWF Magazine
8. My Interview With The Macho Man
Before I ever started working with the WWF, The Macho Man Randy Savage was far and away my favorite sports-entertainer. Nobody had the combination of charisma, and wrestling talent that was Randy. A standout minor league catcher in his day, Savage was an outstanding athlete, and usually wrestlers today have one or the otherwrestling skill, or mic skill. Well, Randy had it all and more. His promos were the best in the business with each one being better than the last. I vividly remember me MAKING this interview happen---this was my Breakfast with Blassie. I even went as far as to go to Randys unbelievable condo in Treasure Island, Florida, where you saw the ocean from every GINORMOUS window that wrapped the joint. As we got to talking, at first Randy was a bit guarded, but after he got a beer, or two, in him---he really began to open up. By the time we were done, he even took me over to his familys house to meet brother Lanny, and father---the legendary---Angelo Poffo. A memory that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
