3. Terri Runnels' Miscarriage

(Oh, good gravy.)

So, in late-1998, there was a faction of some of the women of WWE. It consisted of Jacqueline, Ryan Shamrock, and Terri Runnels. This group was called the Pretty Mean Sisters (AKA: PMS, do ya get it? DO YA GET IT?!).

Anyway, Terri joined this group soon after claiming she was pregnant with the child of Val Venis. Val denied the fatherhood of said child. However, Terri remained steadfast with her pregnancy, up until an early 1999 episode of RAW.

In that episode, she was knocked off the apron by an unwilling D'Lo Brown (whom PMS was managing at the time), When knocked off, Terri feigned injury and distress, and in a backstage segment later on in the episode, she claimed she couldn't feel the baby moving. Simply put: Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara wrote a miscarriage angle. It didn't boost ratings, increase PPV buys, or even merch sales. It was completely pointless.

Worse yet? That episode was the same one where Mick Foley won his first-ever WWE title against The Rock. In a sense, this angle is forgiven by the fact that the episode is remembered for Foley's win, but to have this segment alongside it? Lord knows how many people there were who didn't bother to tune into that title match after seeing this terrible nonsense.
