During a press conference in London on Thursday morning, WWE revealed that they were launching a brand new brand for the UK.

The WWE United Kingdom Championship has been announced, with the first titleholder being established following a tournament to be held in Blackpool in January, 2017.

16 men will enter the brackets hoping to become the first champion, amongst them some of the finest in-ring performers on the British scene. Standing side-by-side with Triple H, William Regal and Finn Balor on stage were some faces fans of WCPW will recognise.

The likes of 'Bruiserweight' Pete Dunne, part of The Strong Style Collective tag-team with Travis Banks in WCPW, and both Moustache Mountain members Trent Seven and Tyler Bate were featured. Perhaps the most notable face belonged to a former WCPW Champion.

Joseph Conners only dropped that title to Drew Galloway on the DELETE WCPW iPPV recently. The 'Righteous Killer' hasn't stalled, he's moving forward and hopes to become the first ever WWE United Kingdom Champion.

WWE have since confirmed that this new venture won't affect any of the men who regularly appear on the UK indie scene.
