What Are WWE's Updated Social Media Policies For Talent?

"Company wishes" are important.

Fightful has lifted the lid on WWE's updated policies governing how talent use social media.

They're fairly basic, but do hint that the company want ultimate control over everything that happens on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and other social platforms. Amongst other things, WWE's guide says the promotion will fire out "calls and texts" to wrestlers "informing them of the company’s wishes or plan" whenever they have something specific in mind.

Expanding on that, the guide sheet says, "For TV programs/feuds, WWE will instruct more specific/scripted tweets for talent. This is done so their other social media outlets are utilised correctly in terms of build".

One of the other major rules is as follows: "When a talent participates in a social media campaign, WWE will tell the talent to tweet about it. A script is not provided, just a supply link".

The lack of scripting for the latter is pretty interesting. WWE's promos have been noticeably less-scripted over the past year or so, which has helped television become more engaging and given talent freedom. That freedom sort of still exists on social media, but the company are seeking to create a uniform style when discussing storylines too.
