What Aspect Of AEW Is "Flatter Than Piss On A Plate"?
Eric Bischoff doesn't think WWE have to worry about AEW...
Eric Bischoff isn't all that impressed by AEW's current ratings.
Coming during a recent edition of his Strictly Business podcast, the subject of WWE's potential return to the land of TV-14 was brought up to the former WCW man. And when nudged on this perhaps being something of a response to Tony Khan's All Elite Wrestling and that promotion's popularity of late, Bischoff had this to say on the matter:
"It’s not like WWE is losing audience to AEW. AEW is flatter than piss on a plate in terms of television ratings.”
Strong words from the former General Manager of Monday Night Raw, with the outspoken wrestling figure clearly not thinking AEW's 2022 Dynamite average of 950,000 viewers is much to write home about at this current moment in time.
Going further, Bischoff was also quick to note how anyone who assumes AEW are a genuine threat to Vince McMahon's empire right now, with both Raw and SmackDown pulling in more than 1.5 million viewers on average this year, is “delusional, and has taken ‘fanboyism’ to a terminal level.”
Bischoff would also hammer home his belief that WWE isn't entirely concerned with the happenings going on within TK's company during the pod conversation by stating:
“It is what it is and WWE is not losing market share to AEW, so why would they react to something that’s not affecting them?”
Whatever your opinion on AEW being legit competition for WWE, the news of the latter being on the cusp of heading back into these TV-14 waters has most definitely captured the attention of both wrestling fans and on-screen figures over the last few days, with even Pat McAfee producing a sly nod towards this potential future on last night's SmackDown.
As always, WhatCulture Wrestling will provide more updates on all things TV-14 as and when they drop.
