What Happened When Triple H Met Vince McMahon For The First Time?
The WWE boss was impressed...by somebody.
Triple H revealed what happened during his very first meeting with Vince McMahon on WWE's 'The Bump'.
According to 'The Game' (who will celebrate 25 years with the promotion later this month), McMahon clearly didn't know who he was when he attended a meeting with the boss at WWE HQ in 1994. Somebody in the office had recommended Vince take a look at the then-WCW hopeful, and he wanted to get a look at his future son-in-law up close and in person.
Throughout the meeting, Triple H got the distinct feeling that McMahon had only agreed to the meeting out of courtesy, but says he was later shocked when Vince himself called to say he'd enjoyed his match with Alex Wright at Starrcade '94 and wanted to bring him in.
The surprising thing there was that Trips never expected McMahon to make the call personally. Secondly, he'd also left the initial meeting thinking that there was no chance he'd be hired. He turned his thoughts to making a mark in WCW instead.
Their "cordial" meeting left an impression on Vince, and so did Hunter's performance on WCW pay-per-view.
