What Wrestling Legends Really Think Of Modern WWE

6. Jake Roberts

Steve Austin
AEW

Jake Roberts is an ornery old f*cker with incredibly high standards that inform a near universal disdain of what has become of professional wrestling. This all informed a fabulous spot, at Double Or Nothing, where Cody positioned Lance Archer for the DDT right in front of Jake's face, and didn't get the three count right in front of Jake's face.

Roberts has most recently buried WWE on the FlipDaScript podcast for the company's portrayal of Brock Lesnar.

"He's a once a year guy, or three times a year guy. And to me, you are really treating your talent like sh*t, every year come WrestleMania time, after these guys have busted their asses for 365 days, when it comes time for the big one, they bring (Lesnar) in and they have to sit down."

Which is fair. Lesnar is a per-segment TV draw with a level of mainstream renown that brings much attention to WWE, but you have to wonder how it all might look, were Lesnar never re-signed back in 2012.

Still sh*t, since it's institutionally rotten, Never mind.

Roberts also buried WWE's Performance Center on Wrestling Epicenter in 2019, saying "The guys learn a bunch of moves and that’s it. As far as doing interviews, they don’t do their own interviews. They realize these guys are just reading. The fans want more. They deserve more."

At this point, WWE is essentially the plot of Shutter Island, except its legends are attempting via an elaborate shoot interview conspiracy to convince Vince McMahon that he's the headcase.
