When Will Lucha Underground Season 2 Begin Filming?
Find out here.
Lucha Underground's much anticipated second season will begin airing on the El Rey Network in January, but the production schedule has remained a mystery. However, planning is well underway and television tapings will begin in two weeks. El Rey Network will be producing the show in the same location where season one was filmed, the so-called "Temple." The studio is located in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angles. This time around, Lucha Underground is planning on taping several episodes a day during taping sessions, as the poster for the events advertises that fans in attendance should be available to stay on-site for up to four hours. During production for the first season, the company typically taped two episodes per day of filming, so it would appear they will be going beyond that and filming three or four this time around. This is likely a cost-cutting measure to get more episodes produced in a shorter amount of time. One of the great challenges facing Lucha Underground when it came to landing a second season revolved around the company figuring out how to cut costs and turn a profit. The fact that Lucha Underground has no touring product and runs no live events makes profiting difficult. Lucha Underground so far has announced four taping dates, scheduled for consecutive weekends. The first set is scheduled for November 14 and 15; the second set of announced tapings will occur on November 21 and November 22. https://twitter.com/LuchaElRey/status/659807031503622144 If three or four episodes are indeed filmed on each of the dates advertised, Lucha Underground should have approximately three months worth of television taped following November 22. This would take the new season through March of 2016.
