Where Vince McMahon Is Going Wrong With WWE
He could not exist in WWE because material would be imposed on him, and because he would be deemed too old and not sufficiently "cosmetically pleasing". There's an evolving, extemporaneous quality to Jericho's act that he always had to fight for in WWE.
And he's cool.
Jericho is cool because he's doing everything possible to repel that designation. He isn't trying. He is a jackass, but the presentation is just such a tremendous bit of business; he's rich, that belt is gorgeous, he drinks champagne, he's funny: he is the picture of a professional wrestling World Champion, and he painted it with the brush firmly in his own hand.
In stark contrast, through his "comedy" impressions of Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins to Vince was another John Cena: McMahon imposed characteristics on Rollins totally incongruous to his real-life personality, and he was, as a result, a synthetic babyface.
Wrestling is at is best when it's either wonderfully real or outrageously absurd.
Vince McMahon is getting it wrong by, of course, 50/50ing these philosophies on Fridays.
