Which Match On This Week's AEW Dynamite Was Only Added Late On?

This week's AEW Dynamite three-way to decide who Rey Fenix's challenger would be at next week's 4th Anniversary show was only added to the episode 90-minutes before it started.

Dave Meltzer would reveal in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Wednesday's show went through a lot of last-minute changes due to various injuries.

Obviously, in the wake of suffering a concussion on last week's Grand Slam edition of Dynamite, Jon Moxley wasn't cleared or backstage. But it was also noted how the new International Champion Fenix was also hurt during the cannonball spot that injured Mox, hurting his back with the move.

This initially resulted in Fenix also not being cleared to compete on the latest Dynamite, so his match against Jeff Jarrett was not originally a part of the show. But Dr. Michael Sampson eventually decided he was healthy enough to wrestle after he went through some physical therapy and completed an in-ring workout, leading to that title match being made official.

Nick Jackson vs. Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brian Cage for the right to take on Fenix for the belt on next week's episode was also a late addition, being added an hour and a half before they went live, with The Young Buck initially only being expected to accompany his brother to the ring for his four-way contest and take part in the post-match.

Tony Khan then asked him if he would be up for wrestling in the three-way. Nick would agree but have to improvise some gear as he didn't have any with him, taking stuff "stowed away in the bins" to create an improvised outfit.

Last-minute Nick will now face Fenix in a fascinating rematch of one of the greatest bouts in Dynamite history.
