Buddy Murphy has been doing good things on Raw recently, and the WWE star told Digital Spy that he's had some powerful backing behind the scenes.

None other than Paul Heyman headhunted Buddy when he was still working over on SmackDown, and he told the ex-205 Live man that he could potentially be the "next face of Raw". That's high praise indeed, and it got Murphy excited to jump brands and start working under WWE's creative guru.

In a humble moment, Murphy (who has since gone on to link up with Seth Rollins and become one half of the Raw Tag-Team Champions), also said that he felt "lucky" to be on Raw. He added that "working with Paul is awesome" during the interview too.

Buddy was a huge ECW fan growing up, and the 31-year old loved watching Heyman on commentary in WWE when he wasn't managing emerging acts like Brock Lesnar. Murphy's dedication to rebuilding a shredded physique has helped his cause, but he also has childhood heroes in high places looking out for him.

Is it only a matter of time before Buddy hits big as a singles star?
