Why AEW Must Steal THIS Hated WWE Idea

Big E WWE Champion Day 1

Anxiety will be felt, and MJF has already proven himself capable of playing shadowy games with the media. He should be able to maintain the mystery.

Secondly, MJF doesn't wrestle when he can get away with it. He has a minimum obligation to wrestle and has exploited this story beat to great effect over the last three years. He uses this character work to stay away from storyline rivals and make the PPV show-downs feel enormous, and his "work smarter" approach serves his old school-indebted character and guarantees an eruption of a pop when he eats sh*t from a wild modern move.

He doesn't wrestle unless he absolutely has to - which segues into the main thrust of the article.

The WWE Money In The Bank briefcase is a rotten device, and has been for years. Vince McMahon used it and Triple H continues to use it as a shield whenever it is carried by a heel. They can eat pin after pin, in theory getting the babyfaces over in the meantime, until the time comes for them to cash-in. And then, when they've won, they lack credibility and the World championship in turn lacks credibility. This all makes a warped sort of sense when the heel wins the MITB match because you're meant to resent their opportunistic cowardice. WWE has killed the gimmick dead because they insist on giving the f*cking thing to babyfaces.

The same thing happens every time. Remember when Big E cashed in?
