Why Drew McIntyre Didn't Like WWE's "Scottish Psychopath" Nickname

Logic matters.

Drew McIntyre

2020's (men's) Royal Rumble winner Drew McIntyre told Corey Graves on the announcer's 'After The Bell' podcast recently that he was never fond of the 'Scottish Psychopath' nickname.

The big Scotsman's reason is simple: McIntyre didn't particularly think his character was doing anything psychopathic on television, and never viewed it as a good fit for his actions. It's pretty hard to argue with that, even if Graves and others commentators were only trying to give Drew something marketable.

He's glad to be rid of it.

Since turning babyface, McIntyre's career has shot skywards. He won the Rumble and will now challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Title at WrestleMania 36 in Tampa. That's a far cry from hanging out with Dolph Ziggler or acting as Shane McMahon's bodyguard, and it's a fully-deserved role for someone who so obviously wears passion on his sleeve.

It's attention to detail that has brought Drew this far, but it was slightly surprising to hear him rubbish the 'Scottish Psychopath' moniker as unnecessary. Graves didn't really have an answer for the Brit's opinions.

Really though, who's gonna' argue with him?
