Why Paige Missed WWE SmackDown Last Night

She still managed to take a shot at Bayley though...

Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Paige missed WWE's unique Performance Center episode of SmackDown due to "coronavirus related travel concerns which the company accommodated".

The Brit was set to appear on the broadcast and possibly set up some kind of WrestleMania 36 storyline with reigning SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley. Instead, Bayley and partner Sasha Banks dissed Paige for no-showing and then worked a tag-team match with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross to open the show.

Paige, knowing she was conspicuous by her absence from a program she'd been heavily hyped for, apologised to fans on Twitter but said things were out of her control. Then, she couldn't resist having a little kayfabe pop at her storyline rival by saying, "...but at least @itsBayleyWWE is keeping you entertained".

There's still time for WWE to make the best of the situation and kickstart Bayley's angle with Paige on next week's episode. If Raw and SmackDown are restricted to the PC for the next month in front of empty seats, then they'll want all the star power they can get.
