Why Sasha Banks Vs Bayley Means So Much To So Many

A trademark WhatCulture.com list could be written about the false starts and f*ck-ups given to two of the division's most gifted all-rounders since about 2017, with the headline moments alone enough to leave you resembling Seth Rollins, post-globe luxation.

Remember when Banks cheated to help babyface Bayley dethrone Charlotte Flair and the 'Hugger' shrugged and laughed it off? Or when Banks took an injured Bayley's place in a title match at SummerSlam later that year, won, and then lost it before the two could even collide over it? It was every woman for herself at the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber and the WrestleMania Battle Royal in 2018 when the pair targeted each other, but those weren't the parameters the locker room.

Things finally reached a fever pitch in June that year when Bayley (to the biggest response she'd had in months) snapped. "You ain't sh*t Sasha!" was a line that finally gave her character her guts back, but also called back to how Banks used to treat her before the Brooklyn match changed everything. WWE writers didn't notice. A few weeks later, Sasha broke down, telling Bayley she loved her. Lots of implication but little substance, but that too was dropped as the pair went off to f*cking counselling with Dr f*cking Shelby before willing the Women's Tag Team Titles into existence only to lose them in some banter booking during their second defence.

All of this dross was the polar opposite of the booking that brought them to Brooklyn years earlier. Thankfully, it'd stand in stark contrast to what finally clicked for them in 2020 too...
