Why Vince McMahon Rejected This CRAZY R-Truth WWE 24/7 Title Idea

Turns out R-Truth is even crazier than the WWE Chairman...

WWE's 24/7 Championship has proven an unexpected midcard hit since Mick Foley revealed the green and gold strap in a much-derided introductory segment, with the madcap antics of R-Truth, Drake Maverick, and others providing essential comedic relief on Raw and SmackDown.

He might not be holding the strap at the moment, but Truth is very much the division's ace. He spoke about the scene in length on a recent episode of Edge & Christian's Pod of Awesomeness and when the conversation turned to the skit in which Truth invaded Maverick's wedding to reclaim the belt, the former K-Kwik had a story to tell.

Per Truth, the wedding skit was WWE producer/coach Sarah Stock's idea, and he pitched to go one step further by wearing a wedding dress for the occasion. Ultimately, Vince said no. His reason? "That sounds like he's trying to be funny. Tell Truth to just be funny, be himself."

Instead, the 47-year-old settled for a blazer and purple tie. No shirt, though.

WWE's 24/7 wrestlers are generally granted a greater degree of creative control in the division. Still, the idea of McMahon rejecting something for trying too hard is amusing, given all the dodgy comedy he's tried to get over throughout the years.
