Why WrestleMania 24 Was Removed From WWE Network

Could this be the real reason why WWE pulled WrestleMania XXIV from the Network this weekend?

This past weekend saw WWE remove WrestleMania XXIV from the WWE Network. No reason was given at the time, though WWE support stated that the 2008 edition of the 'Showcase of the Immortals' would soon be added back to the streaming service.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson has come through with a new report on the matter, stating that WrestleMania 24 was likely taken down from the Network as a result of a music rights issue, as the promotion has done this with other events in the past. It is a common practice when rights reach their contractual end, necessitating edits on the company's behalf before the event can be put back online.

An incredibly well-received event, WrestleMania XXIV played host to all manner of huge moments, including Shawn Michaels' "I'm sorry, I love you" to retire Ric Flair, one of the best Money in the Bank ladder matches ever, and Edge's blistering World Heavyweight Title main event with The Undertaker.

WrestleMania XXIV was still missing from WWE Network at the time of writing. There is currently no word on when, exactly, the promotion will look to get it back up.
