Why WWE Scrapped Plans For A New Nation Of Domination

Ron Simmons didn't show up on RAW for nothing...

WWE had originally planned on officially putting together a new Nation of Domination stable on this week's RAW before pulling back on the idea during Monday's tapings.

This is according to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He writes that Ron Simmons and Mark Henry were brought to the Performance Center to kick things off, though WWE had to pivot when the plans were altered. Simmons ended up appearing on camera anyway, meeting with MVP and Bobby Lashley backstage, though Henry didn't feature.

While there is currently no word on whether or not WWE will revive the idea later down the road, Meltzer states that several people felt running a new Nation of Domination would be tone-deaf at the moment, given the real-life timing, so it was nixed.

This change was part of a huge series of RAW rewrites that saw WWE tear up much of its plans for the next few weeks. Rather than a new Nation, MVP, Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin are currently aligned as The Hurt Business, losing to Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander, and Ricochet on this week's episode of RAW. MVP had previously been aligned with Shane Thorne and Brendan Vink.
