Why WWE Will Save Cody Rhodes From Burial

2. The Story Continues On

WWE WrestleMania 39 Cody Rhodes

As Cody Rhodes detailed plentiful times in the build to WrestleMania 39, his mission is to "finish the story" and climb to the top of the WWE mountain.

Yes, Cody came up short at this year's Showcase of the Immortals, but why does that mean his quest has ended in failure? As ever, the story continues on; it's not like in AEW where it was bafflingly decided early on that the American Nightmare was no longer eligible to challenge for the promotion's World Championship. There's nothing stopping Rhodes from earning himself another shot at the Undisputed WWE Universal Title or even demanding a rematch after the shenanigans that played out towards the finish of his 'Mania war with Roman Reigns.

Cody's story is far from finished; it's just zigged when we all thought it would zag, in turn creating a new chapter that still has the same endgame in mind.

One has to remember, WrestleMania 39 was Cody Rhodes' first ever televised World Title match in WWE. With a huge fanbase behind him, major merchandise numbers to his name, and clearly unchallenged as the top babyface in the company right now, Cody is cemented as a permanent main event player and World Title contender.
