17. WrestleMania VII To WrestleMania 13: Multiple Main Events (II)
For the next couple of years, WWF's
choice in terms of wrestling was to be found in ‘Mania's midcard. Shawn
Michaels and Bret Hart's Iron Man Match was the only main event one could
consider the best on the calendar. Meanwhile, four midcard matches, Bret Hart
vs Owen Hart, Razor Ramon vs Shawn Michaels, Shawn Michaels vs Diesel and Bret
Hart vs Steve Austin, share a combined six PWI/WON Match of The Year awards
between them, as well as two Meltzer five-star ratings, the first ones in the
company's history.
It’s kind of a shame that The Undertaker vs Sid Vicious, Bam Bam Bigelow vs Lawrence Taylor (who did quite well to be honest), and other uninspired, bland encounters closed the shows during this period, as Shawn and Bret worked wonders lower down the card.
As the midcard got outstanding, the main events were neglected. How about a show with a solid midcard and a memorable main event? We're getting there, slowly...
