Fresh off the back of winning the British Heavyweight Championship from Zack Sabre Jr. at RevoPro High Stakes, Will Ospreay has announced on Twitter that he will finally be making the move up to Heavyweight.

Ospreay has called the Junior division home for his entire NJPW run and has won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title on three occasions, the Best of the Super Juniors tournament twice, along with the NEVER Openweight belt - which allowed Ospreay to take on Heavyweights on a more regular basis.

After taking out his long-time rival Sabre Jr. last night, Opsreay lifted the British Heavyweight high and later took to Twitter to confirm that this was merely the beginning of his Heavyweight journey.

The 'Aerial Assassin' proclaimed that it was '7 years put to rest. New British Heavyweight Champion. I will now officially make the jump and be competing in the Heavyweight division.'

This now opens up an infinite amount of possibilities for the Brit going forward. Feuds with the likes of current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito and his old pal Kazuchika Okada spring to mind, along with fresh battles against the likes of Jon Moxley and Jay White.

2019 was a stand-out year for Ospreay, but could he be about to blow it to smithereens in 2020? Only time will tell.
