Will Ospreay Signs Contract With EVOLVE Wrestling

Paul Heyman presides over major signing for independent group.

Will Ospreay

During Paul Heyman's "Inside the Ropes" show at London's York Hall, the advocate for Brock Lesnar had a special offer for guest Will Opsreay, and a surprise for the fans in attendance.

On behalf of Gabe Sapolsky - booker and owner of EVOLVE Wrestling, and former office worker for ECW - Heyman offered "The Aerial Assassin" a contract with EVOLVE. Ospreay stuffed the contract inside his breast pocket and hugged Heyman, indicating assent.

The signing - and the circumstances surrounding it - are notable for several reasons. Ospreay is the current Revolution Pro Wrestling Cruiserweight Champion and New Japan's Best of the Super Juniors winner. He recently signed a two-year contract with New Japan, and being as how that organization regularly works with Ring of Honor, it was rumored that Ospreay would debut there shortly. Working with EVOLVE - an ROH competitor and a WWE partner - most likely precludes that. It also potentially puts Ospreay in contact with WWE when his NJPW contract expires.

Ospreay has already worked for EVOLVE, taking part in this year's WrestleMania weekend festivities in Dallas. He racked up incredible matches with Zack Sabre Jr. and Ricochet at EVOLVE 58 and 59, respectively, then teamed with Marty Scurll and Tommy End to take on Johnny Gargano, Kota Ibushi, and TJP at Mercury Rising.

He is also set to work WCPW's July 27 & 28 tapings, tickets on sale here - wc.pw
