Wrestler Recalls "Very Odd" And "Suspicious" WWE Debut

This famous WWE star didn't get off to the best start, and he knows why.

Booker T called his WWE debut match vs. Buff Bagwell on the 2 July 2001 edition of Raw "very odd" and "suspicious". Speaking via his podcast, the Hall Of Famer told listeners he also doesn't know why it's considered one of the worst matches in the flagship's history.

Book explained that he turned down an appearance on the recent 'Dark Side Of The Ring' show centred around Buff because anything said between both men on the night is "private". However, the WWE legend does think it's weird that both men were told by agents not to engage with fans on their way to the ring, or even during the match.

That was a major red flag to Booker.

He didn't outright say this, but it's like Book believes he and Bagwell were being set up to fail by then-WWF top brass. Although the company owned WCW by that point, there was still an 'Us vs. Them' mentality behind the scenes. Booker believes that sentiment hampered the match before it even hit the ring.

Interesting. Did WWE deliberately ruin their chances then pin the blame on Bagwell?
