Forget about John Cena, Triple H is the most polarizing star in WWE's history. A section of the audience views him as a genuine legend and all-time great, meanwhile his critics will have you believe he's an utter fraud.

The latter are right to point to his hogging too much screen time, portraying himself as the GOAT he's not and being kind of overrated inside the ring. With that being said, his qualities are too glaring for the prosecution to deny. As a heel, his character work is second to none, whether it was as part of the McMahon-Helmsley Faction, Evolution or The Authority.

His in-ring skills may not have been top-drawer, but if so it was the drawer right under it. While not a great technician by any stretch, Triple H is an excellent brawler and he knows how to create *moments*. If you have half an hour to spare, you could do worse than indulge in his classics against The Undertaker at WrestleMania (all three), against Steve Austin at No Way Out 2001 (personally one of my favourite matches of all time) or against Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania XXX. For a guy who's so often been accused of burying up-and-coming talent, it's also worth noting how many superstars Trips put over throughout the years: Chris Benoit, Randy Orton, Batista, John Cena, Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and even Ronda Rousey.

It's interesting to ponder whether Triple H will be world champion again. It's possible he has too much respect for Ric Flair to equal his record and put himself on his kayfabe level, but that still opens the door for a 15th world title. Adam Cole recently said Triple H wrestling a TakeOver match would only be met with rapture by the NXT roster. A storyline where a power-thirsty Hunter gets jealous of his rookies getting all the praise and looks to prove to himself he still got it by taking back the title he created would surely be controversial, but it writes itself.
