Wrestling Legend Hacksaw Jim Duggan Battling Cancer Again

The ex-WWE, WCW, and Mid-South man was given what looked like the all-clear last December.

Less than six months after announcing he had effectively been given the all-clear following a battle with prostate cancer, professional wrestling legend Hacksaw Jim Duggan is sadly fighting the disease again.

Duggan broke the sad news in a video uploaded to his Instagram page on Sunday. The 68-year-old stated that his treatment is set to continue despite having his prostate removed in October 2021, adding that his doctors are "very optimistic" after detecting the cancer early (h/t Figure Four Online/The Wrestling Observer):-

“It seems that my cancer treatment is not over even after the removal of my prostate last October. And tomorrow, I am getting my second hormone shot and Tuesday I am being set up for radiation treatment, which will be eight weeks, five days a week. The doctors are very optimistic that they caught it early. It’s a terrifying time for me and my family. But the doctors also said to go ahead and live life, which we’re going to do.”

Though perhaps best known for his runs in WCW and WWE during a vast, wide-reaching career stretching from 1979 until 2019, when he wrestled his final bout, Duggan's most acclaimed work came for Bill Watts' Mid-South Wrestling between 1982 and 1986. His iconic feud with Ted DiBiase is considered one of the most important of the territorial era, shooting Duggan to prominence as a national wrestling star.
