If you'd have told folks in the wake of Cody Rhodes' failure to conquer Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 that The Bloodline Saga would still be hot enough to close out this year's SummerSlam, they'd have likely thrown their American Nightmare weight belt at you.

But that was certainly the case heading into the latest 'Biggest Party of the Summer' as 'The Tribal Chief' and Jey Uso's long term family drama looked to be reaching an epic climax on August 5.

Jimmy and Jey's turning on 'The Head of the Table', the exceptional Bloodline Civil War in London, and a masterfully executed spell of weekly TV had fans clamouring to see if 'Main Event' Jey could do the unthinkable under Tribal Combat rules.

Sadly, though, what should have been a brutal and emotional rollercoaster instead became a frustrating, convoluted mess of a 36-minute stage play, with Jimmy's heel turn and the tired Bloodline tropes finally forcing WWE to cool off on this family affair for a while.

Both of the Usos have managed to just about recover on separate brands after the most underwhelming moment in the three-year story. But they wouldn't have needed to, had WWE kept things simple and just had Roman and Jey keep it tight and explosive in their fight for the title of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion/Tribal Chief.
