Wrestling's 10 Greatest Kay-Baes
4. Trish Stratus
Due to her abundance of high quality in-ring work, Trish Stratus’ skill as a manager are often overlooked. When she first entered WWE, she helped Test and Albert stand out. Even in the stacked Attitude Era, T&A were a constant presence on TV due to their association with the beautiful and devious Stratus.
The most memorable kayfabe romantic relationship of Stratus’ career is her time with the boss, however. Vince McMahon’s mistreatment of Stratus in the overtly abusive partnership helped send him to new heelish heights, even if it’s not exactly a time most would wish to revisit.
However, it is her short romance with Christian in which she was the most effective fake girlfriend. WWE tried using Stratus the previous year to elevate Jeff Hardy in his transition from tag team stardom to solo success. This was abruptly dropped due to Hardy’s release on April 22, 2003.
After a kayfabe relationship opposite Jericho, Stratus turned on Y2J at WrestleMania XX, aligning with Christian. The two kissing on the entrance stage gave him a solo ‘Mania moment and elevated him as a heel. Stratus by his side, and “problem Solver” Tyson Tomko”, exhibited Christian as a star.
