5. Jerry Lawler Unwell
One story overshadowing Old School Raw was the absence of veteran broadcaster and wrestling legend Jerry Lawler. It was explained by Michael Cole that Lawler had taken ill and later reports online confirmed he had been hospitalized with vomiting and chest pains. This is obviously hugely concerning as Jerry is the survivor of a heart attack that he infamously suffered on air a couple of years back. Lawler is now said to be fine, but the issue has brought up the question if he should be continuing to work for the WWE. As the survivor of a heart attack, Lawler should be taking things easy. The weekly travel for Raw and the stressful atmosphere on the night could be considered too much for a man of his condition. The time may well have arrived for Lawler to consider retirement. In truth he is long overdue his resignation from announcing duties. The cliched and mediocre act he currently presents is nothing like his quality work done in the 90's. Lawler has made good money and had a fantastic run, the time has perhaps now arrived for him to retire and enjoy his health.
