10 Most Bizarre WWE Gimmicks

1. The Deadman

Perhaps the most bizarre and successful wrestling gimmick to ever grace the squared circle of the WWE is that of 'The Deadman' The Undertaker. Debuting in 1990 as a mortician inspired wrestler complete with trench coat, tie, black Stetson hat, gloves and boot spats, The Undertaker was portrayed as impervious to pain. With the mystical powers attributed to an urn carried by manager Paul Bearer, The Undertaker would become one of the most feared entities in the history of the WWE. The relative ease in which he defeated the then face of the WWE in Hulk Hogan at the Survivor Series pay per view in 1991 is a telling sign of just how successful The Undertaker's gimmick was for its time. Of course over the years The Undertaker's gimmick has changed, although it has remained fundamentally bizarre. For a start he cannot seemingly die despite many instances in which he seemingly has died. For example he has been buried alive more times than any other wrestler and has lived to tell the tale! In addition he has survived a casket match where he was set on fire and has returned unscathed after being beaten into submission on multiple occasions at the hands of the entire locker room. To quote the many strange Undertaker vignettes, "He is the man that keeps coming back!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xr9Qs5dGAQ4 From making caskets for his latest victims to leading a dark cult in The Attitude Era complete with sacrificial ceremonies, The Undertaker's legendary gimmick has been ground-breaking as it has been bizarre, and for that reason must feature as the number one entry on the list of bizarre WWE gimmicks!
