WWE: 10 Bloodiest Matches Ever

1. Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin - WrestleMania 13

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZkK55HFUDU Every wrestling fan has that one match that they have watched more than any other. You might consider it the absolute best or your favorite. For whatever reason, you keep watching it over and over just like you would your favorite movie. For me that match is Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13. It's my favorite match ever or at least in the top two with Undertaker vs. Michaels at WrestleMania 25. It's one of the most intense brawls in the history of wrestling. They brawled right from the beginning as they took the action into the crowd and didn't slow down for 22 minutes. The big turning point in the match happened when Hart whipped Austin into the steel guard rail that surrounded the ring. Austin did the blade job and came up bleeding. During the remaining portion of the match, Hart did all he could to open the cut even more and that's what happened. The ending of the match is one of the most iconic images from Austin's glorious career. Hart had him locked in the Sharpshooter. The camera zoomed in on Austin's face, which was full of blood and that blood was dripping into his mouth as he tried to fight it. Austin kept fighting it and when he would put his head down to the mat it would only fill the mat with even more blood. Eventually he passed out into a pool of his own blood, but fans didn't think of him as a loser. He was one of the gutsiest individuals ever, as Vince McMahon would say on commentary. This match was so important in the careers of both guys and also in helping to launch the Attitude Era. Hart was the guy that became a heel because he was so ruthless while Austin gained everybody's respect because he wouldn't quit despite all the pain he was in. There's no pro wrestling match that used blood better than this one. That image of Austin bleeding while in the Sharpshooter is something wrestling fans will never forget.
