WWE: 10 Controversial Wrestlers Who Belong In The WWE Hall of Fame

10-7. The British Bulldog, The Big Bossman, Rick Rude and Miss Elizabeth

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLqTJJ-xN80 These four are lumped in together due to them being kept out of the WWE Hall of Fame for the same reason: an early death. For people that follow the business, they know that drug and alcohol abuse has been a rampant problem for decades. It's taken the lives of far too many talents far too soon, and WWE doesn't like to put the spotlight on them. This is especially true during WrestleMania season, as the ceremonies are designed as a celebration of the past year. There have been some exceptions to the early death rule with Eddie Guerrero, Curt Hennig and Yokozuna all getting in on separate years in the past. But for the most part, dying young under troubled circumstances can keep you out for years. This wouldn't have any effect for the voting of possible inductions in other sports, but WWE doesn't want people questioning the incredibly high death rates of their sport. Rick Rude held the WWF Intercontinental Title, the WCW International World Heavyweight Championship, and was a main event heel for The Ultimate Warrior during his title run. He was a great talker, charismatic and undoubtedly belongs in the Hall. However, he died at age 40. The Big Bossman spent over 15 years total in the WCW and WWF. He was a good big man worker that was a foil for top level talent from Hulk Hogan to Steve Austin to The Big Show. He was respected in the locker room, and successfully transitioned from the cartoonish early 90s of wrestling into The Attitude Era. He died at age 41. The British Bulldog held the WWF European Championship, the Hardcore Championship, Intercontinental Championship and the Tag Team Championship. The last one he held for over nine months with Dynamite Kid. He even main-evented SummerSlam 92 against Bret Hart in an all-time classic match. Sadly, he also had drug abuse problems. Despite his great resume, it seems that his death at the age of 39 is keeping him out of the Hall. And Miss Elizabeth was one of the most loved talents from the 80s, despite not wrestling a single match. She will forever be linked with Macho Man Randy Savage, and was vital to the Mega Powers storyline which saw her husband battle his former friend Hulk Hogan. She remains one of the most popular women in WWE history. She passed away at 43. Over the next few years, a couple of these talents will probably be making their into the Hall, but in a legitimate one they would have already been let in years ago.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
