WWE: 10 Failed Attempts At Re-Creating WrestleMania Magic

8. Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant (WrestleMania 4)

Everyone knows about Hogan and Andre at WrestleMania 3. Everyone remembers the final moments of the match when the Hulkster lifted Andre up for a body slam, dropped the leg on the big man, and pinned the formerly undefeated Andre to retain the WWE Championship. It's a moment that will continue to live on whenever the history of WrestleMania is brought up. It was a match where Andre was willing to put Hogan over because he knew that Hogan was great for business, and that the WWE was going to become bigger than ever if Hogan managed to pick up the win. This selfless act by Andre has since added a little bit of charm and class to their match upon hindsight of what could potentially have occurred if Andre had chosen not to put Hogan over. One year later, at WrestleMania 4, Hogan and Andre were both put into a tournament along with twelve other wrestlers. Due to a screw-job by both Andre and "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase, the WWE Championship had been declared vacant and a new champion would be crowned at the big event. Both Andre and Hogan got to advance to the quarter-finals where the two went toe to toe. While seeing Hogan and Andre face each other once again was great for all the little Hulkamaniacs, it unfortunately led to a pretty cheap ending to an eight minute match where both Hogan and Andre managed to disqualify one another by hitting each other in the back with a chair. Because of this, neither got to advance in the tournament. While this was a great way for Randy Savage to make history later in the night, it was a sub-par showing for both Hogan and Andre compared to the match they had 365 days prior.
