WWE: 10 Great Things Missing From WrestleMania 30

5. No Madison Square Garden

Sure, the Superdome should be a pretty awesome spectacle, but it does seem odd that WWE is messing with its own tradition for this year's WrestleMania. The very first WrestleMania took place in Madison Square Garden, the world's most famous arena. It was the perfect place to air the event. It can be considered the company's home more than any other arena. Even at that point, WWE had held hundreds of sold-out events there since the company's origin. The lineage of MSG shows continued when WrestleMania X took place there, as well as WrestleMania XX. It seemed like a given that Mania XXX would take place there too, but Mania had to travel across the country to find a new home. Pro wrestling often messes with its own history when it can (for example, despite WWE's claim, Hulk Hogan was not the first man to bodyslam Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3. It wasn't even the first time Hogan did it!), so keeping some legitimate tradition is always nice when possible. The crowd at MSG is usually one of the best in the country, and it would have been a blast to see the biggest wrestling pay-per-view of all time come back to where it all began.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
