10. CM Punk
Its funny, when people talk about CM Punk, they dont often talk about him as a ring technician, and maybe that is because he is more instantly memorable for his controversy, promos and campaign for ice cream bars. When it comes down to it however, despite any other attributes that have helped Punk rise to the top, it is his in ring ability that tells the audience that he is the guy to be watching right now. His in ring skill comes as a direct contrast to John Cena's limited move set, and when it comes down to it what fans really want to see is exciting wrestling matches end each show. Punk delivers this. Punk, much like Bret Hart before him has good reason to gloat about his abilities as being the best. His early career in Ring of Honor and TNA gave Punk a platform to show off his natural ability in the ring. Much like the other current ROH guy in WWE right now Daniel Bryan, Punk has the benefit of wrestling on the independents for several years before transitioning to the WWE. That isnt to say that every indy guy is instantly better then a WWE trained superstar, but the different styles and extra moves indy guys pick up along the way makes the best of them very unique when in a WWE ring. The WWE style is to wrestle mostly matches that last five or ten minutes, with a few signature moves and maybe a couple of high spots thrown in. On the indy circuit wrestlers often have the opportunity to have much longer matches and be more experimental then they could in the WWE. There probably isnt a move or hold that Punk doesnt know how to execute. Just see his string of matches with Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship to see how the two really pull out all the stops to create matches not possible between anyone else in WWE right now.
