8. William Regal
William Regal is perhaps one of the more overlooked wrestlers in history. Yes, everyone knows hes good, but hes never really received the recognition or had the level of success he perhaps deserved. He almost seems like a permanent fixture. Hes a guy who shows up every now and then, is pushed occasionally and then has good matches in non pay per view events. His matches with Chris Benoit, Fit Finlay and Daniel Bryan has all proved gruelling tests of endurance, skill and determination, but at times relegated to unadvertised matches or secondary shows. His comic ability and overtly English gimmick has proved to keep him as a pantomime villain. Over the years he has partaken in far too many comedy skits, including being entered into the Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass Club and a mind boggling scene where the WWE Universe were treated to full frontal nudity from Regal. What we did to deserve that is still a mystery. His early days in WCW saw him have great technical battles with the likes of Sting, Dustin Rhodes and Arn Anderson. Regal brought a flavour of the English World of Sport style wrestling with him to the States and has gone on to be instrumental in the development of stars like CM Punk, Samoa Joe and Daniel Bryan who has taken elements of Regals style into his own. Its a shame hes yet to win a world championship, but has been Intercontinental, Tag and European Champion over the years. His King of the Ring victory in 2008 is a prestigious accolade, and has proved to be his greatest achievement yet.
