WWE: 10 Injuries With The Worst Timing Possible

4. Any John Cena Injury

Simply put, John Cena has been a walking time bomb when it comes to injuries for the better part of the last decade, each injury seemingly more severe than the last and at a more precarious time than the previous injury. It started with his torn pectoral muscle in 2007, while he was the reigning WWE Champion. Originally diagnosed to be out for seven months, the WWE was forced to strip Cena of the championship, with Vince McMahon awarding it to Randy Orton five days later and setting off a feud between Orton and Triple H. Cena would return in time to be a surprise entrant in the 2008 Royal Rumble and was more or less able to pick up where he left off. Later he suffered a herniated disc in a match against Batista at SummerSlam that same year. The injury came just prior to Cena being announced as a challenger in the the upcoming Championship Scramble Match at Unforgiven. Again, not a terrible setback for Cena, but any time one of the top draws go down, especially when scheduled to be in an upcoming pay-per-view main event, it's bad news for the company. Cena would generally remain healthy for the next few years only suffering minor injuries here and there, before tearing his triceps, once again while reigning WWE Champion €” though he would continue competing until dropping the title to Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam 2013. Cena's durability is nothing to scoff at and his recovery and rehabilitation efforts are nothing short of superhuman, but every body has a limit and that durability has definitely waned some over the years €” at this point he has to leave fans wondering if the next injury will be his last.
