WWE: 10 Questions You Most Want Answered (March 15)

10. The True End Of The Attitude Era

From €@Trelane_: What event would you consider marked the "end" of the Attitude Era?
It's hard to know exactly when that would be, but I've always felt like WrestleMania 19 was the end of that era. That's the show that had Steve Austin's last match, The Rock was winding down as a regular performer and we got that memorable Hulk Hogan/Vince McMahon to settle that rivalry too. When I wrote about the best PPVs ever, WM19 was number two. Amazing show. Since Austin was the biggest star of the Attitude Era and Rock was the next biggest, it's fair to say that their final match closed the book on that era. Some fans like to call the next period the "Ruthless Aggression Era" with guys like Lesnar, Cena, Triple H, Batista and Orton on top because that's a phrase that WWE threw around all the time. It never really caught on, though. The Attitude Era was when WWE was watched by the most people in America. Television ratings were up and there was a tremendous buzz about WWE. Some might say that it ended at WrestleMania 17, which is the best PPV ever in my opinion, but I don't think that's right considering all the key players at that show were still around for years later. It wasn't as big of a company worldwide as it is today because they've had a lot of growth in places like China and India in the last decade. If you miss the Attitude Era check it out on WWE Network because now that WWE is a PG company that's growing as a business it's unlikely that it will change anytime soon.
