From @mkurtz91: Since they're going to keep both championship belts, why were we told they are unifying them at last year's TLC?
This is something I get asked frequently because WWE made it a point to say there would be only one WWE World Heavyweight Champion yet the champion is still carrying around two world titles. It's something I would personally like to ask WWE because I'm not sure what there answer would be. What would make sense to me is that WWE keeps only the WWE Title because the "WWE" logo is clearly visible on the title. That's the one they debuted early last year when The Rock became WWE Champion. It's smart to have a title with the WWE logo because as soon as people see it they know what it is. The World Heavyweight Championship has a lot of history, but there's no need for them to still be carrying it around. It looks silly to have to see a guy like Bryan wearing one of them around his waist while he has the other one his hand. Orton never wore them around his waist, which also looked bad. If you're going to have only one World Title then there should only be one championship. Having two of them looks silly. Hopefully it changes soon, but that's something WWE management has to figure out on their own.
