3. The Futures Of International Stars
From @lastmanoftruth: With KENTA and Devitt coming in how high are your expectations with Triple H at the helm vs. Vince with Low-Ki?
It's not like Triple H has full control yet. Vince McMahon is still the man with final say on everything, but Triple H definitely has more power than he did a few years ago when Low-Ki flopped as Kaval. What a terrible name by the way. Kaval? That wasn't a good idea. He made his name elsewhere too, but he's an American guy and they still didn't know how to book him right. Since KENTA and Prince Devitt made their names mainly in Japan the WWE audience doesn't know much about them. Obviously some fans are going to know, but what percent? Maybe 15%? We don't know for sure. I think in KENTA's case it will be a bit of a challenge because English isn't his first language, so will they put him with a manager or just trot him out there on his own. In the case of Devitt, he's an accomplished in-ring performer that can also talk very well from what I've seen, so I think he'll adapt very well. With the right storyline he's a guy that can really thrive. That's why he made the jump. What will be interesting in the case of KENTA and Devitt is how long will they have to spend in NXT to get acclimated with the WWE style because they really don't need to be there long. The same could be said about Sami Zayn, who has been there for about a year already. Wrestlers don't get called up until there's a story in play, so I hope these guys get something worthwhile and that they don't have to stay in NXT too long.
