7. Fresh Groups Like The Shield And Wyatt Family

Stables in wrestling are as common as chinlocks and dropkicks. They'll always have a role in the business because they're an effective way of building up characters as allies that can hopefully benefit every person in the group. The most famous stable ever was the Four Horsemen led by Ric Flair. They had more longevity than any other stable because they changed the members around. Some of other successful stables include groups like the New World Order, Degeneration X and Evolution to name a few. As a Canadian, I always want to list the Hart Foundation group from 1997 in here, but it only lasted about eight months so I don't think it warrants a mention. When I think about The Shield and Wyatt Family I smile because I like how both teams have been used since they have been called up to the main roster. The Shield debuted at the 2012 Survivor Series event. It was a boring show until they showed up. The next night on Raw everybody wondered what their purpose was. Were they working for somebody evil like Paul Heyman or did they have their own agenda? It turned out they were doing it for themselves. What was even better was the way they were booked so strong in winning every tag match they had for many months. When they finally lost it was a big deal. Why? Because they were a big deal. Now it looks like Roman Reigns will be the breakout singles star while Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have equally bright futures. The best part of WWE booking in the last year has been the rise of The Shield. The Wyatt Family is still fairly new since they've only been on the main roster for about six months or so. What makes them special is they have gimmicks that allow them to stand out from the pack. They're southern swamp dwellers who don't act like everybody else. That's why it bothered me on Raw when they had Erick Rowan interact with Michael Strahan. That hurt Rowan's gimmick. Keep the Wyatt Family separate from everybody else. They shouldn't be hanging out backstage. Both groups have bright futures as stables and as individual entities when that time comes.
