WWE: 10 Reasons Why We Love Mickie James

1. WrestleMania 22 Win Over Trish Stratus

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IzdLwowyko "The nutjob has won the title! They're actually cheering this psychotic woman!" - Jim Ross It's rare to see storylines in wrestling get nearly six months of build anymore. Angles are often so rushed to the point that win don't mean as much as they should. If a performer loses a match at one show, chances are they will get the win back within or month or two and then move on to the next person. In the case of Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus at WrestleMania 22 in 2006 in Chicago, it was the culmination of the best female wrestling storyline in WWE history. When Mickie challenged Trish for the Women's Title, she was the heel in the match. Fans were supposed to boo her for being this psychotic chick that tried to mess with their favorite diva. However, the Chicago crowd ended up cheering for Mickie because it was such a good angle and she was a fantastic performer. One of the most memorable moments occurred when Mickie yanked Trish's leg against the top rope and Mickie landed on the floor. The crowd cheered the move. Mickie let out this really evil laugh. Then she started screaming like a crazy woman. Then the cheers grew. It was as if she knew that they had the crowd in the palms of their hands. It was also the match where Mickie did one of the best counter holds in the history of wrestling by grabbing Trish in her...uh...female parts to counter the Stratusfaction Bulldog. There was even an infamous lick that followed. You won't see those on the WrestleMania 22 DVD, if you're wondering. I doubt they will be on WWE Network either. If there is one gripe it's that the finish could have been a bit better. Mickie was going for the Stratusfaction, but they weren't able to execute it properly and it ended up being a kick to the head for the finish. Other than that, though, it was really well done. When Mickie won the Women's Title in her first WrestleMania match and she celebrated with the championship, the crowd cheered for her. They appreciated her hard work and the story that they told. There hasn't been a divas feud that has been that good since then either. It's a credit to both Trish and Mickie for giving wrestling fans a memory that will last forever. Those are just ten reasons why we love Mickie James. Hopefully she can find her way back to WWE to give us more memories we can enjoy because she is one of the best female performers in wrestling history.
