WWE: 10 Reasons Why We Love Mickie James

4. Her Rivalry With Beth Phoenix

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TA6MGxVCOg "Mickie James has upset the Glamazon! Mickie James is the new WWE Women's Champion!" - Jim Ross. Raw in London, England April 14, 2008. Most fans would say that Mickie's best rival in wrestling has been Trish Stratus. It's a very valid point. However, the woman that she likely wrestled the most had the most great matches with was Beth Phoenix. From house shows to TV and PPV matches, it was one of the best women's rivalries in WWE history. The reason Beth vs. Mickie worked so well is that because Beth was a powerful heel that was bigger than most of the women she worked with. Mickie's role was that of the energetic babyface that used her speed to counter Beth's power. It was the classic story of power vs. speed. Even if you didn't know the storyline going in, you could enjoy their matches because Mickie did great as the likable good girl while Beth was the bully. Their most memorable match took place on Raw in England in April of 2008. As WWE's announcers Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler pointed out, Mickie hadn't beaten Beth at that point. She was truly the underdog in this scenario. After a physical match and the crowd behind her, Mickie was able to counter a powerful submission move with an incredibly quick rollup for the win. She finally beat Beth Phoenix to win back her Women's Title. The crowd went wild. The announcers celebrated. Viewers at home cheered. It's hard to fake chemistry. You either have it or you don't. When it comes to Beth vs. Mickie, they had some of the best chemistry among any women in WWE history.
